Reason Vilakazi (38) and his business partner, Muzi Hlophe (39), are the owners of Konka Republic.

PROUD fashion designers ekasi make irresistible jeans.

The unique Konka Republic is made in Block UU in Soshanguve, Tshwane.

Reason Vilakazi (38) and his business partner, Muzi Hlophe (39), are the owners of Konka Republic.

Their business was registered in 2018.

Reason said that around 2012, they both started learning about fashion.

"We specialise in denim jeans and anything that has to do with trousers, jean jackets, aprons, jam suits and dresses - all our outfits are made of jeans," he said.

Reason said that for them, it's easy to work with jeans because they last longer and are relevant from season to season.

"We are playing with jeans' creativity."

According to the duo, they're originally from Amsterdam in Mpumalanga, and the idea started here in Tshwane.

Reason said they've always loved fashion. "We start everything from scratch and turn it into unique fashion. Anything you want, we can do it.

"We courier to our customers, and we advertise through social media."

However, for now they're renting a small place where they run their business.

"We can do any style out of this fabric jean material. We do jeans for men, women, and kids," he said.

Reason said that they're now established and proud of the local fashion.

Meanwhile, his partner, Muzi, said that the community in Mpumalanga is proud of their work.

"Working with Reason is a good thing. He's a brother to me. We do what we love most. We wear our own designs," he said.

He further said that their jeans last longer and are comfortable for all seasons.

"We have a different and visible stitch that is unique. Our jeans are strong. We make sure our clients are happy," said Muzi, who also mentioned that they also do bucket hats.
