When Sne Ngubane was doing matric in 2017, she turned what was farming for household consumption into a profitable broiler chicken business.
She started with 30 chicks and has grown that number to 1 600 – and it all just started with her overcoming her shyness and approaching local supermarkets, restaurants, car washes, tshisa nyamas and lodges, offering to sell them chickens.
“It’s a good business to venture in because people eat meat every day, if you have a good marketing strategy, nothing can stop you, and the [demand] can become so big that you can struggle to meet it with the supply,” the 25-year-old tells Drum.
