Al Ahly legend debunks Pitso Mosimane multi-million dollar offer from Al Wahda

Pitso Mosimane has not received a multi-million dollar offer to leave Al Ahly, former goalkeeper turned pundit Ahmed Shobier has claimed.

Mosimane, who has now been in charge of Al Ahly for one year following after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns has been subject to intense media speculation in recent weeks.

While there were suggestions that Ahly was in contact with an unnamed German coach, reports in Egypt have surfaced claiming four-time UAE Pro League champions Al Wahda have submitted a mouth-watering offer to secure his services.

It's been claimed the club contacted representative Moira Mosimane with a $5-million (R75m) annual salary contract offer - nearly three times his current package at the Club of the Century after failing to secure Patrice Carteron.

But Shobier has poured cold water over the rumours while suggesting Mosimane has no intention of leaving the record 10-time African champions.

"I contacted some sources close to Al Wahda officials, and they denied any negotiations with Mosimane, and that everything that was reported in this regard isn't true," he said on OnTime Sports, as per KingFut.

"Al Wahda never made a $5-million offer to Mosimane to take over the team. Al Wahda doesn't pay these large sums to the coaches.

"It's possible that some have linked Mosimane’s wife travelling to the Emirates, to her going to negotiate with Al Wahda. Mosimane will be in training this week and isn’t planning on leaving."

Mosimane has won four major trophies including the CAF Champions League twice and a bronze medal at the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup since his arrival in Cairo.
