Mosimane has enjoyed a perfect start to life at the helm of the record 42-time Egyptian Premier League champions with two wins, with four goals scored and none conceded.
However, with the league title already secured before his arrival, the mandate of winning the Egyptian Cup and the CAF Champions League is clear from the Red Devils hierarchy.
"I want to congratulate coach Pitso [Mosimane] for his move to Al Ahly. Unbelievable achievement," the Bafana Bafana legend said.
"[Al Ahly are] one of the best teams in Africa if not the best, the Real Madrid of African clubs. So well done to him on that.
"Obviously, his history and everything he achieved thus far as a coach has been tremendous. The work he has done at Mamelodi Sundowns is second to none."
He added: "It will take a special coach to go on and achieve what he did in South African football. Congratulations to him on an amazing career so far.
"If Al Ahly’s fans and board support him, he will do the utmost best and I can see a lot of success coming Al Ahly’s way because they’ve got him at the helm."
The Club of the Century will host third-placed Pyramids at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday evening at 20h00 (GMT+2).
