Benni 'ready to go to war' against Kaizer Chiefs

One win in six games across all competitions means this season with two defeats in the last three means is proof of just how much Chiefs are susceptible at this juncture.

AmaKhosi make the trip to face McCarthy’s recharged Usuthu who have won two of the last three and are unbeaten in the last four.

"Chiefs, in the history of South Africa they are the big one, but we prepare the way we do for every single match," says McCarthy.

"We try and focus on ourselves and fix what we need to fix so that we get back to our best of how we know. That is what we work on, and we do analyse, study and watch videos of the opposition but we don’t try and worry too much about them. We just make sure we don’t play into their hands and their strengths and that we make the most of the game in what we want to do.

"It is our home game, so we need to set the standard. We need to control the pace of the game and so that is why we need to focus on ourselves a lot. Not disrespecting any opposition but when it comes to us, we know if we do what we must do we know that the opposition is in for a tough time. We are ready to fight. We are ready to go to war. We are ready to do what we need to do to go for all three points which are never easy but that is the goal and that is how we prepared," raves up McCarthy feeling encouraged by what he has seen of his team in recent weeks.

"We have tasted that (winning) and now we want to continue. We don’t want to let that momentum go to waste so we are finding our groove now and we want to maintain it though we know that we are up against a fearsome team with incredibly good players who on their day can punish and hurt any team in the league. I mean any team but if you are prepared and you get them maybe on a day when they are not at their best then you might capitalise as some other teams did. However, we know that Kaizer Chiefs will always bounce back because they have players with big-match temperament, so we are preparing for a clash of the titans," he says.

Saturday afternoon’s game is at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium.
