Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a major blow after confirming the length of time star forward Samir Nurkovic will spend on the sidelines.
Nurkovic was forced to undergo surgery at the Rosebank Clinic in Johannesburg last week after it was discovered that he had suffered a minor tear in the cartilage of his right knee.
The Serbian forward has since been discharged following the successful operation but could now spend up to two months on the sidelines while he completes his recovery.
"Samir had surgery last week. They found a little tear in the cartilage of the right knee. The surgeon says he could be out between 6 to 8 weeks," Chiefs' head physiotherapist David Milner told the club's website.
"They smoothed out the cartilage. Overall the operation was a success and in a week's time, he will be reassessed by the surgeon. We will have a clearer idea as to what is going on and plan the recovery process. We believe the timeline provided is one we can work with for now.
Meanwhile, Nurkovic also shared an update on his condition, revealing that he was still on crutches and that he had not yet started the rehabilitation process.
"All is well. It has been just a week since surgery," he said. "I am still moving around with crutches, it’s still painful, I am getting better, and hopefully soon we can start the rehab."
