The Brazilians hammered Usuthu 5-0 in the first round of the Telkom Knockout, with Gaston Sirino getting a brace, while fellow South American pair of Jose Ali Meza and Mauricio Affonso were also among the scorers.
Mosimane wanted his side get more goals rather than show off silky touches, and made reference to recent big wins for Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
"Good result, we played well, we played proper. Sometimes it's not about 5-0, sometimes you can score 2-0 but as long as you play proper football," Mosimane told SuperSport TV.
"From the beginning, we got our triangles right, we got our passing paths right and we looked better.I was worried about the weather [the heat] that's why I told them to slow the tempo down a little bit so that we can find our passing paths because we struggled to score in the first half," he continued.
"[The Jose] Ali Meza goal for me from where I am it looked like it's an offside. I don't know. What I like is to score the goals, but still they could have scored more. Now they went into the mode of, you know the South African mentality when you're 3-0 up you start to show how good you are on the ball.
"It's not about that, when we played [against] Cote d'Or here in the [CAF] Champions League they played much better than this. Meaning, precision, passing, going forward, crossing and finishing. So that's what they did.
"The own goal that Mario Booysen conceded, you can see the same against Black Leopards, something is coming from us and it's very difficult to defend that ball. But I think they went to enjoy themselves. If Man City can score eight goals, if Bayern [Munich] can score seven against Spurs [Tottenham Hotspur], we should score more. Yes, last time we scored 11, we should score more. It's about goals. They don't score goals, they want to play a lot. We know they are good on the ball but score the goals."
The outspoken Sundowns boss was asked about the looming Absa Premiership clash with rivals Kaizer Chiefs next Sunday and he cautioned that they need to focus fully on their game against Highlands Park on Wednesday before thinking about Chiefs.
"That's why we took off [Hlompho] Kekana, I wanted to take off Gaston [Sirino] also to save them, the game of Highlands [Park] is a tough game. You know Highlands is a tough team, it's not going to be easy, the running will be more than this. You don't want to play that game before the Kaizer Chiefs game.
"But it's not about the Kaizer Chiefs game, it's about the Highlands game. Don't worry about the Kaizer Chiefs game, worry about Highlands game. We have two games in hand, so this Highlands game is a thorn in the flesh. And by the way, for us to win the league we don't have to beat Kaizer Chiefs, so we should never be emotional about Kaizer Chiefs, we should be professional. We don't have to win against Kaizer Chiefs to win the league, no we don't have to win that," he insisted.
"I'll drive the message to the guys to focus on the Highlands game more than Chiefs, thank you."
