South African footballers have proven able to attract high-profile brand affiliations without having to leave the PSL for overseas adventures.

Itumeleng Khune arguably remains the most marketable sporting figure in the country due to his popularity and status within the local football scene.

'Mzansi's finest' has built an immense social media following and status since graduating from Kaizer Chiefs academy in 2004 and with 91 caps to his name, he's also become somewhat of a national icon.

Despite suffering from injuries and a drop in form in recent years, Khune is still undisputed in terms of marketability with his long-term Danone collaboration bearing fruits.

Khune is the face of their DanUp product and has led example of how local footballers can create multiple streams of income off the field of play.

Orlando Pirates captain, Happy Jele, the club's longest-serving player has also been a prime example of a model professional over the past decade and it comes as no surprise to see brands aiming to work with him.

However, Lexus has been one of his brand partners as he's often seen driving around in their latest offerings, while he promotes the brand on his social media accounts.

His new teammate Deon Hotto recently joined in on securing a deal with Adidas, shortly before his move to Pirates and with his stock on the rise, it won't be too long before the Nambia star attracts more to his personal brand.
