Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has admitted that the 2022/23 season was a disappointing one for the Soweto giants after suffering their 12th league defeat and finishing fifth.
Chiefs lost their fourth consecutive game in all competitions after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in their final match in a underwhelming DStv Premiership campaign.
Zwane noted the injuries suffered in the team tampered with their plans and structures and also refused to fault his players for their efforts this season, despite being leapfrogged by City in the league on the last day.
Here's how the readers reacted to Zwane's season reflection in the "Zwane: This was not a good season for Chiefs" story:
"They thought beating Pirates was everything," says Themba_1937.
"Didn't he say they're the 2nd best team? All of a sudden, it's a bad season. Aii lo mjita talks too much," says mohlala.ee.
"1. Management has failed dismally; they couldn't do justice to everyone involved. 2. Zwane isn't a good choice for coaching a team of Kaizer Chiefs' caliber. 3. 80 % of the current squad are not hungry enough to archive anything at the team except for fame. 4. [Molefi] Ntseki must go back to where he belongs, Doctor will take that position or Farouk Khan. 5. Mr. Kaizer, appoint Jessica as the manager of the team, she is capable more than anyone else there, or else take back full responsibility please. 6. You once said no African could coach Kaizer Chiefs, I fully agree with you, Only Pitso and Gavin Hunt. Thank you," says SK wa Le Khosi.
"When will it be a good season for Chiefs because we are going to the 9th season without a trophy," says bhekilekhuleni6.
"Coach says his players couldn’t even make the right decisions by making the correct passes inside the box. Also that his players can’t keep possession of the ball. Meaning they can’t play football. Then he goes on and says he can’t blame them," says jboy.k.
"Zebra [Chiefs] conceded in the 9th minute of the game, in the 34th minute Cape Town City were reduced to 10 men and for the entire 90 minutes Zebra only had 1 shot on target. What a shame," says Oliver Poodleton.
"The problem is this 1:4:2:3:1 formation as it isolates our strikers. Again, we only attack through wings, no small or half space to play from. We always play in front of opposition not turning them. We lack confidence with and without the ball," says kinglovistochaka780.

Mangethe explained by Khama Billiat's return to action lasted around ten minutes after he was substituted early in Chiefs' 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City.
Billiat, who was sidelined with a groin injury since October, replaced an injured Ashley Du Preez in the first half but surprisingly replaced by youngster Mduduzi Shabalala at half-time.
Zwane stated that it was part of their plan to slowly reintroduced Billiat for a few minutes so they can build him up going forward.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Zwane explains Billiat substitution after long-awaited return" story:
"What Zwane knows best is talking to the media. He must go because if he stays, supporters won't buy Chiefs merchandise next season," says lufuno.mulaudzi.
"It just shows desperation, how do you field a 90% recovered Billiat, it seems you have the veto powers over the medical team, fielding an unfit player not only aggravates his injury but it also destroys his career. Brilliant Khuzwayo is my reference," says Oliver Poodleton.
"Shame shame shame. Khama Billiat was NEVER ready to play. It just shows what the lack of coaching experience can do to a team and people blame players.
"I believe the Motaung family will think twice about Arthur Zwane, if they continue with him, then it will be the end of this team," says peter95157.
"Too many similar, average PSL players. To many players below Kaizer Chiefs' quality level," says maxncane.
"Ja, Arthur must be given a chance to coach, I've observed how his Teams play, I mean the Juniors too. There is visible freedom in their play but Arthur's problem is just lack of quality players.
"I was shocked at the composition of his starting 11 in their latest Sekhukhune game. Kaizer Chiefs people must just buy players. If it was up to me I wouldn't release Austin Dube and George Matlou, very, very good players that were never given a fair chance," says mthunzijack7.
