2010 spotlight on aviation industry


Aviation security experts met in Johannesburg on Thursday to discuss the establishment of the forum which will be responsible for the implementation and interpretation of aviation security legislation, regulations and requirements.

The forum is expected to meet on a monthly basis.

With up to 350 000 visitors expected in South Africa for the World Cup, there is enormous pressure on the aviation industry.

The Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) has invested over than R1.3bn ($170 million) in infrastructure for the nation’s major and smaller airports, in preparation for the event.
