Egypt have confirmed that star midfielder Amr Warda has been sent home and banned from the national team indefinitely.

Warda, 25, was a rare shining light for the Egypt at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and was tipped to play key role for the hosts at AFCON 2019.

However, in the build up to the tournament, media reports surfaced over alleged sexual harassment of some of his teammates wives during his time with Greek Super League champions PAOK.

While his inclusion in the final 23-man squad was met with criticism from Egyptian media and fans alike - it's now been confirmed that he's been kicked out the national team hours before there second Group A clash.

Egyptian media outlet Yallakora explains that Warda has now been accused of harassing several women on social media for explicit images.

Ihab Lehita, the media officer of the Pharaohs confirmed that the decision was made to exclude Warda after consulting with the technical and administrative staff of the team.

The decision was aimed at maintaining a state of discipline, commitment and concentration in the current Egyptian camp amid Warda's off-the-field issues.
