Ajax warned over 'wounded' champions

The Brazilians have not won in the last five matches, while the Urban Warriors are determined to redeem themselves after the loss to Orlando Pirates at the weekend.

“The spirit in our camp is fantastic and we are raring to go, but we have warned the players not to be complacent,” says assistant coach Wilfred Mugeyi.

“We need to get back to our winning ways, especially after the loss against Pirates. With the character that the boys are displaying, I do not see Sundowns winning. We will not let them turn the corner at our expense,” says the Zimbabwean.

Ajax, who have won seven of their 12 matches and sit at the head of the table on 24 points, took six points off Sundowns last season under Muhsin Ertugral – they were the only team to do the League ‘double’ over the champions in 2006/07 – and they will look to perform a similar feat under the mentorship of Craig Rosslee, who has effortlessly picked up where the former coach left off.
