The two sides will meet again in the second leg to be played on South African soil in two weeks’ time to decide who will be going to the championships in Zambia.
Amajita had a dream start to the match when Bidvest Wits’ forward Liam Jordan headed in the opener on the 6th minute. Lesotho were looking for a quick response and in the 14th minute drew out a good save from Amajita goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto as they looked to find an equaliser.
The match went to the break with Amajita leading by the solitary goal. The second half started much like the first as Amajita looked for a quick breakthrough only for Fagrie Lakay to be saved by the Lesotho shotstopper Ramalefane. In the 65th minute, Amajita coach Thabo Senong brought on Orlando Pirates’ Kamohelo Sithole and it wouldn’t be long before the young Buccaneer repaid his coach.
In the 74th minute Sithole doubled Amajita’s lead to all but guarantee the result. Amajita held on for the remainder of the match for a very important victory coupled with two crucial away goals and a cleansheet.
