Both players have signed two-year extensions to their existing deals.

Usuthu PRO Philani Mabaso says: “As management we are excited because this means that 80 – 90 percent of our current squad will be retained for next season and once again these are local boys, which is positive for the province and our team.”

“I’m very happy to extend my stay at AmaZulu because it shows that the team has confidence in me. It was also important to stay in the province and help the team regain its glory days,” says 22-year-old Mzimela.

“It was great for me because it proved that AmaZulu saw something in me that made them to extend my contract; its show that my future is bright here at AmaZulu.”

Regarding Usuthu’s weekend fixture against Platinum Stars, coach Clive Barker says he intends to use the same approach as they did when beating Premiership log leaders Supersport United.

Barker says the only doubtful starter in his squad is Mohammed-Awal Issah and that they have suspensions.
