AmaZulu, Nathi Lions to honour Cele

‘Black Cat’, as Cele was affectionately known in his hey day, played for both AmaZulu and African Wanderers and was also involved in coaching after retiring from playing.

Usuthu Chief Operations Officer Lunga Sokhela says his team owes Cele a great honour for the contribution he made whilst still playing for the team.

Sokhela said Usuthu’s management will meet to decide what contribution will made to the family of their former star who also involved played the lead role in the movie, Shaka Zulu.

“We are saddened by the passing of Henry Cele. He is one of our former stars who contributed to the success of AmaZulu in the past AmaZulu send condolences to his family, relatives and friends and we will try everything possible to make a contribution towards his funeral.

Nathi Lions manager Joshua Ndwandwe has also expressed his team’s sadness in the wake of Cele’s death.

“He was a high profile player and a respected member of the soccer community. This is a loss not only to his family but the whole of Kwazulu Natal. We will also just leave everything we are doing to attend his funeral.”

Burial arrangements for Cele have not yet been announced but there is a distinct possibility that the funeral will take place in Durban this weekend.
