AmaZulu ready for title-chasing Supersport

The Pietermaritzburg hitman, who has netted nine times in the league and is the current top scorer with seven goals in the Nedbank Cup, said this after helping Usuthu to the quarter finals of the lucrative cup tournament by easily brushing aside Vasco da Gama 5-0 in Durban’s Chatsworth Stadium at the weekend.

Ngwenya slotted in a brace in this match against the Vodacom League side.

Last week he contributed immensely to Clive Barker’s team thumping another amateur side, Young Ones 14-0.

Before the Vasco clash, Ngwenya and his mates failed to bring back home three points as they went down to Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a league clash.

“Yes, it is true that we need to put up a good showing in the league, as we are showing in this competition. I can tell you that we are trying our best to play well in the league but unfortunately we can’t get it right. But we won’t give up until we find consistency,” said Ngwenya.

On facing league title hunters Supersport United at KwaMashu’s Princess Magogo on Sunday, Ngwenya said they were anticipating a tough encounter.

“Everybody can see Matsatsantsa are hungry for points because they can smell the title. We need maximum points to move up the log. I believe we will pull through as we don’t have suspensions and have an injury free squad,” said the player known as Makhokhoba.
