Bafana Bafana's AFCON qualifying campaign in numbers

0 – Bafana Bafana were the only team in Group E to finish the qualifying campaign without a defeat. Senegal, Mali, Burundi and Guinea were the only other sides that did not lose.

4 – The senior national team had an impressive record of four clean sheets in six matches. They conceded their first goal in the penultimate match against Nigeria, which was an own goal from Bidvest Wits defender Buhle Mkhwanazi.

4 – Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau finished the campaign as the team’s top scorer with four goals. Tau scored his goals against Nigeria, Seychelles and Libya (brace). Three of the four goals were netted away from home.

6 – Bafana had six different goal scorers in the matches they played. Tokelo Rantie, Lebogang Mothiba, Dino Ndlovu, Teboho Mokoena, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Tau all found the back of the net during the qualifying campaign.

6 – The team’s 6-0 victory over Seychelles at FNB Stadium was the biggest victory from all the groups.

8 – Buhle Mkhwanazi was one of eight players in the qualifiers to score an own goal. He and Seychelles player Nigel Hoareau were the two players to score own goals in Group E

11 – Stuart Baxter’s men scored 11 goals in six group matches, which is the third best scoring record in the group behind top scorers Libya and Nigeria.

50 – Midfielder Dean Furman capped his 50th appearance for the national team with a solid performance against Libya on Sunday night.
