Bafana climb up in latest FIFA rankings

accreditation

Bafana Bafana suffered two back-to-back defeats after a being on the receiving end of a 5-0 hammering by France in late March before a disappointing 2-1 loss to Morocco in a 2023 Afcon Qualifier.

Despite the two results, the 1996 Afcon Champions have climbed up one position in the latest FIFA World Ranking, with the national team now ranked 68th in the global standings, four positions ahead of Cabo Verde and eight places behind Ghana.

In Africa, South Africa maintains their 12th position from the last rankings released in March but still can’t crack the top 10 on the African continent.

Bafana Bafana will be hoping to improve their chances when they welcome Liberia in September for a crucial Afcon Qualifier clash before travelling to West Africa for the reserve fixture a week later.

Elsewhere in the world, Brazil snatched back the number one spot after losing it to Belgium in the March rankings.
