SuperSport United's Aubrey Modiba knew about Bafana Bafana call-up before Polokwane City match

Modiba scored a brilliant free-kick to give Matsatsantsa a first-half lead in Polokwane, but his goal was cancelled out in the second half by Rise and Shine as the sides drew 1-1.

The following day it was announced that Modiba would join the Bafana squad for the back-to-back 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles.

Baxter named a 24-man squad at SAFA House on Monday, but now has one more member following the addition of Modiba, who featured in the goalless draw against Libya at Moses Mabhida Stadium last month.

β€œIt feels great to get a call-up. It does not matter when you get the call-up, as long as you are in the set-up. Being called up late or before is one and the same thing for me, I am part of the team either way. I am excited and I am looking forward to the game,” Modiba tells snl24.com/kickoff.

β€œI got a message before the game [against City] that I am part of the team. They just had to announce it. Obviously getting the call-up pushed that performance against Polokwane City.”

Bafana will assemble on Sunday and start training on Monday at Steyn City in Johannesburg.
