accreditation

However, after only one season there, he moved to Borussia Dortmund on July 1, 2005, for a reported transfer fee of €425k, and signed 4 years contract. His time at Borussia Dortmund was largely unsuccessful as he failed to score in 28 matches playing for them.

Buckley has played 107 games and scored 9 goal for the South African national team. He represented his country at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2004 African Nations Cup.

In July 2006, he joined Everton on trial, but in August he was transferred to FC Basel 1893, of Switzerland.

He was also on trial at newly promoted Hull City in England where he scored one of four goals in a pre-season friendly against Winterton Rangers, with Tigers boss Phil Brown keen to sign the winger, unfortunately Dortmund rejected two offers for the Bafana Bafana left wing.

His preferred position is left side midfield although he can play in the centre of midfield. He also has a German passport.
