Barcelona's Neymar out of El Clasico against Real Madrid due to suspension

accreditation

The Brazil international was sent off for two bookable offences in Barca's 2-0 defeat to Malaga on Saturday - his first dismissal in Blaugrana colours.

The standard penalty is a one-game suspension, but Neymar's actions as he left the pitch have proved costly. The Samba star was noted to have "sarcastically applauded" the fourth official on his way towards the tunnel, according to referee Jesus Gil Manzano's match report.

The RFEF felt it appropriate to extend the ban by two matches, dealing the La Liga champions a massive blow in their bid to retain the trophy as Neymar will be unavailable for El Clasico against Real Madrid on April 23.

The 25-year-old forward is also sidelined for important league encounters against Real Sociedad and Osasuna, with Luis Enrique's side three points adrift of Los Blancos, having played a game more.
