Bay United get time off to ease pressure

“The players have been under immense pressure, especially in their last match against Ikapa Sporting,” coach Vladislav Heric to the Port Elizabeth Herald.

“I want them to be refreshed in both mind and body before we tackle Maritzburg. On our last visit we beat them in their own backyard and I don‘t see why we can‘t do so again.”

United need just one point from the match to guarantee them a place in the play-offs, where they play against the winners of the Inland Stream for an automatic berth in the Absa Premiership.

The bad news is United will be without influential central defender Jonas Mavimbela and midfielder Jonas Segalo who were sent off against Ikapa and face two match suspensions.

In addition, captain Duren Francis, who has been out of action since December following a knee operation, is back in training but will not be considered.

However, Heric said the club had enough depth to replace Mavimbela and Segalo without upsetting the balance.
