Belgium's Eden Hazard on Thierry Henry's reported exit to manage former club AS Monaco

Henry, 41, the record goalscorer of the France national team is currently the front-runner for the Monaco job, the club he started his professional career with.

With the role as manager currently vacant, following the sacking of Leonardo Jardim on Thursday, Hazard has offered a ringing endorsementĀ over the former Premier League striker - whom he's been working under over the past two years.

"He was a fantastic player," Hazard said at a press conference, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"As a manager he doesn't have a lot of experience, but he will learn. If he leaves the BelgiumĀ team we will be sad, but I think for him maybe it's a good time to go.

"He wants to be a manager, so he will be a top manager, for sure."
