Juventus have put in a bid of R70 million for the former Jomo Cosmos striker on the back of his astounding performances this season, during which he has scored eight goals so far.
Mwaruwari told his hometown newspaper in Bulawayo at the weekend, when he graced as guest of honour in his country’s biggest knockout competition final at Barbourfields – the CBZ FA Cup that pitted together old rivals and the biggest clubs in the land, Highlanders and Dynamos.
“Juventus have made the offer and my club knows about that but they are already talking about a contract which I believe will be much better than the offer from Juventus. I am happy at Portsmouth and I will be staying there for some time to come,” he is quoted as saying.
The offer from Juve has prompted Pompey to promptly act towards giving Mwaruwari a contract extension although his current deal will expire at the end of next season.
The forceful striker joined Portsmouth at the beginning of last season in a record R41 million move.
