Botes confident of making good

Botes is confident that subsequently he will end the barren spell he has had in the Tycoons’ colours.

The Namibian captain, who has come off the bench in his team’s last three league games, admits however that to rediscover his goal-scoring touch, he should first fight for a place in Miguel Gamondi’s starting line-up.

He says he is confident of achieving that as well.

The 28-year-old has not reproduced the form that earned him a move from Moroka Swallows last season, owing to persistent injury and a dip in form.

“It is exciting to be back playing after a long layoff, even if it means I had to come on from the bench in the games against SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Bay United.”

“Having regained my fitness, I am looking forward to the upcoming games and have been working very hard. I am confident of my chances of breaking into the team.”

The Namibian international has been playing second fiddle to the likes of Simba Marumo and Colombian-born striker Luis Renteria.

He has recovered from a severe knee injury that prematurely ended a disappointing 2007/08 season for him and his team, as well as a hamstring injury that ruled him out of his national team’s last 2010 Afcon\World Cup encounter against Zimbabwe.
