Bwalya promises to lift Zambian soccer

In a statement issued yesterday after the weekend’s elections, the veteran footballer said: “I am humbled and honoured by the vote of confidence and responsibility that my colleagues in Zambian Football have placed on me.

“I am committed to upholding the highest levels of professionalism and attain levels of distinction for Zambian Football.

“Together, we will take Zambian Football into a new dawn both on an off the field; Nationally, Continentally and Globally.

“Through FAZ and its members we will endeavour to galvanise the Nation, by reigniting the passion of each and every Zambian for their National Teams.

“We will strive to attain the highest standard of football, through sustained development, key partnerships and International exposure.

“Zambian Football needs to become a Continental powerhouse and reclaim its rightful place in African Football once again.

“Our greatest asset is our soccer heritage, this we must undertake to restore to its former glory.

“Through one sustained unified vision we will aim at enhancing the image of Zambian Football with every action we undertake.

“Through development at grassroots we will aim to fully develop the untapped potential and natural football resource Our Nation has to offer.”
