Chiefs were eliminated in the first round of the CAF Champions League on Sunday following a goalless draw with the Ivorian giants in Abidjan.

Komphela's men lost the first leg 1-0 at FNB Stadium on March 12.

“We came here to score and win the encounter, but it wasn’t to be,” Komphela told his club's website.

“We didn’t get a victory here and that’s why we are eliminated from the CAF Champions League.”

Amakhosi's exit means they face the real prospect of ending the season without silverware as they trail Absa Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 13 points with seven matches left.

The league champions reached the finals of the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout earlier in the campaign, while they bowed out of the Nedbank Cup at the first hurdle at the hands of fierce rivals Orlando Pirates.
