Though Pirates have been eliminated from the continental showpiece, mentally they’re still on the same tip ahead of Monday evening’s fixture against quarterfinalists Sundowns.
The fixture has been billed by many as a potential league title decider, with the two sides just three points apart inside the top three on the log.
Despite having come off their disappointment against Horoya in Conakry, Memela believes The Buccaneers should make one last Champions League push in their encounter with The Brazilians.
“It’s not been easy for us going to Conakry and not getting the result, and it’s also not going to be an easy game against Sundowns,” said Memela.
“And we must take it as if we’re playing a Champions' League game, because we know Sundowns have qualified for the quarterfinals.
“I think we’re ready as a team, and we needed the friendly games [on Wednesday] to help each individual to see where we’re at in terms of fitness.
“But I don’t think that’s a problem at this time of the season because most of the guys have played a lot of games already, and though I’m coming from injury, I feel I’m fully fit.”
