Mamelodi Sundowns add Percy Tau to CAF Champions League roster, Ricardo to follow

Tau will be joined by new signing Ricardo dos Santos Nascimento on the list of additions for the tournament, though the Brazilians will only have his papers lodged once he receives his outstanding work permit.

The 22-year-old enjoyed regular game-time at his hometown club and will provide options for Pitso Mosimane in the attacking half.

"Ricardo’s paperwork has not been sorted, the work permit. At least Percy comes in and takes one spot also. So numbers are increasing a little bit," explains Mosimane.

"I had six (spots still open), (Tiyani) Mabunda took one, Percy will take one, Thela (Ngobeni) took one and I want Ricardo to take one because I lost 'Rama' and I don’t have another centre-back on the bench so I am skating on thin ice there. Plus Thabo (Nthethe) is not yet training. If Thabo is not going to make it I still have Bangaly (Soumahoro) to do the work,” explains Mosimane.

Sundowns have not exhausted their allocation of 30 players for the CAF Champions League which is why they can still add players before the close of registration on August 10.

Also already added to the initial squad list that they sent to CAF at the beginning of the year is Tiyani Mabunda and Thela Ngobeni, but their numbers have been reduced with the exit of Katlego Mashego, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Bongani Zungu.

CAF rules don’t allow for players to be replaced, with a club only able to use the maximum of 30 players that they will have registered for the calendar year.
