Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane bemoans missed chances after CAF Champions League stalemate

Sundowns were unable to get that all-important away goal at Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo and Mosimane expressed his concerns because they did create the chances to bury the opponents.

“I think we started very well. We just suffered from the usuals, not taking chances that we got. I think Lebo [Maboe] got a chance in the first half, in the first five minutes and the ball fell on his left foot and I think he could have done better to finish,” Mosimane said after the game.

“We had few balls inside the ball that we did not connect, but the most important balls came when we were on the edge of their box and we are trying to pass the ball to our strikers, but we are passing the ball too long or too short. Not precise passes to put the strikers through.”

The former Bafana Bafana coach is confident that they can wrap up the tie when they play at home this weekend.

“We are not unhappy with the performance, we are just unhappy with the result. I think we can do better and at home and I think we can seal it. But the defence played well, to be honest. We were not really under threat. It’s just a good game that we controlled, but we did not kill the game.”
