Moriri was not part of the squad that beat Zamelek 1-0 in the CAF Champions League match at Lucas Moripe Stadium, and the coach indicated before the game that he was still in talks with management.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder's contract with The Brazilians expired at the end of last month but, even at the age of 36, Moriri still wants to continue playing despite the tough competition for a starting berth at Chloorkop.
“Surprise is still negotiating for his contract, he is a legend, we love him. He is 36-years-old, he still wants to contribute. He didn’t have enough game-time with us last season, but you know what, Surprise is a legend,” said Mosimane.
“It has to do with finances, also it has to do with game-time and also how long is the contract going to be, how many games he is going to play, how many games played last year, next year, how many he can do,” explained ‘Jingles’.
Mosimane also revealed that he will be making “a top signing” from Africa very soon and this is also making it difficult for Moriri to enjoy more action at Chloorkop.
“We have Vila as number 10, Khama still playing as a 10, Tsotso Ngele could not get game-time as a number 10, Surprise is a number 10 … it’s difficult. Also, another player is coming in as a number 10 and he is a top player,” Mosimane concluded.
