Pitso Mosimane reacts to beating Kaizer Chiefs in CAF Champions League final

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane says they showed they wanted the CAF Champions League more than Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday evening.

Ahly eased past the 10-man Chiefs after Happy Mashiane was sent off for dangerous foul play on the brink of half-time which left the Soweto giants exposed in the second half.

Mohamed Sherif, Magdy Afsha and Amr El Solia netted the goals to secure Al-Ashera, their record-extending tenth star which was down to their experience of winning the competition, Mosimane hinted.

"We really needed this trophy, the team from my country also wanted their first star but we wanted it more than them, the tenth one was important," the three-time winner said after the game.

"It's good for the history it's good for our archives and how better to do it than with three goals. Yes I understand there was a red card, but it's part of football, you should not be reckless if you play the cup final, you shouldn't be too emotional, this happens in football.

"We deserve it, we won it, we've been scoring goals all the way [towards the title]. Congratulations to the team, Al Ahly deserve the tenth trophy to make history."
