The Brazilians secured a 2-0 CAF Champions League first round, first-leg win thanks to great goals from Keagan Dolly and Leonardo Castro, although Anthony Laffor missed a late penalty that would have given Sundowns a lot more comfort.
However, Mosimane confirmed that Castro and Asavela Mbekile have picked up injuries but could not say how long they will be out.
“I’m happy with the result, 2-0. I’m happy the boys showed they want to win. The mentality is right for Champions League, to be honest, it was good,” he told SuperSport.
“The only challenge is that we wanted the 3-0, that would have been home and dry but 2-0, what can I say, it’s a 60-40 or 55-45 chance.
“But you can see they are a very good team. We need very good tactical organisation and shape in Congo. Unbelievable, this team plays so well but their pitch is very bad. But they’ve got football players to play on a pitch like this.
“We have to go there and fight. We’re just falling off with injuries, we’ve lost Mbekile with a hamstring and Rama is only a week back, it’s unfortunate, but we have to do what we have to do, we’ve got a lot of injuries … Leo is out with an injury.”
Khama Billiat also went off with an apparent injury late in the game and Mosimane once again called for the PSL to re-arrange domestic fixtures to ease the burden on teams representing the country.
“It comes back to the very same thing. I will say it, and I will always say it, teams that play in the Champions League need help, the game against Bloemfontein Celtic between the Congo game is not helping us,” he added.
“But let me tell you something, we are strong, we believe we have character…
“I saw somebody was saying, no, Orlando Pirates also went through the same thing, why do you complain? They didn’t have the games in between the trips, they did not have.
“But it’s not Orlando Pirates’ fault, I know this is going to be misinterpreted but so be it, I say what is right, and the fixtures are not helping us.”
