Mosimane has led Sundowns, won were African champions under his tutelage in 2016, to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League again this year.

The Brazilians, who remain the sole representative for South Africa in the CAF competitions, have been pitted against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the knockout stages.

'Jingles' believes South Africa has all resources to do well in international competitions both at club and national team level.

"We have quality, our league is top," said Mosimane.

"We don't have excuses in South Africa about the Champions League. We just don't have excuses not to represent the country properly on the continent. Why do Algeria have two, Tunisia have two, Egypt have two and South Africa we only have one?

"We need to have two and we also need to stay longer in the Confederation Cup. We can. What is the problem? We can't complain about budget. I mean what budget are we complaining about?"

Mosimane has urged his counterparts in the league to start treating the CAF competitions with higher respect to help local players gain experience for Bafana Bafana.

"Let's be honest. Let's treat this right. It is very important for our national team," he added.
