WATCH: TP Mazembe thrash Club Africain 8-0 to set new CAF African Champions League record

Mazambe came into the tie having a point to prove after their surprise 3-0 defeat to current Group C leaders CS Constantine of Algeria.

And with group participants Ismaily being expelled from the competition, the DRC giants led by the industrious attacking pair of Tresor Mputu and Rainford Kalaba ripped the 13-time Tunisian champions apart in Lubumbashi.

Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas previously held the record with 7-0 win over Belouizdad 18 years ago, but Mazembe’s remarkable display saw them rewrite the history books.

The hosts were 4-0 up at the break, thanks to a brace from Kevin Mondeko and solitary strikes from Mika Miche and Jackson Muleka.

Muleka got his second just past the hour, before club legend Mputu's double and Meschack Elia's late effort saw Mazemba romp home in historic fashion.
