PSL confirm Orlando Pirates rescheduled fixtures

Pirates will meet RS Berkane in the final in Uyo, Nigeria on Friday which will be the day initially marked as the end of the DStv Premiership marking the crowing of Mamelodi Sundowns as champions for the fifth consecutive season.

While three-quarters of the clubs in the PSL will put matters to rest on Saturday another four clubs will not have clocked the 30 games mark due to Pirates’ involvement on the continent.

After their return from Nigeria, Pirates will host Maritzburg United next week Wednesday (May 25) at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates currently sit seventh on 40 points while Maritzburg are just as good as safe with 28 points and a better goal difference compared to those in that drop zone area.

Maritzburg play Baroka on Saturday in a game that will determine the survival hopes of the Limpopo club.

Then on May 29, Pirates will be at Chatsworth Stadium for a date with Royal AM.

Royal AM sits firmly in the continental football qualifying spots and with their remaining two games to determine whether they go into the Champions League (second place) or Confederation Cup (third place).

John Maduka’s team host Sundowns on Saturday.

The season will ultimately end on June 1 when SuperSport United host The Bucs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

AFCON qualifiers get underway on the same day with the next FIFA calendar dates due to run from May 30 to June 14.

SuperSport are still faced with a scramble to finish in the top eight and those could be the points to secure their place in next season’s MTN8.

Pirates last played a league match on May 2 when they lost to TS Galaxy.

The Nedbank Cup which traditionally closes off domestic football is set for May 28 in Rustenburg with Sundowns playing Marumo Gallants.
