Sundowns throw support behind Bucs for CAF CC final

Pirates are set to meet RS Berkane of Morocco in the Confederations Cup Final in Uyo, Nigeria Friday evening.

Mngqithi remains confident that the Mighty Buccaneers will triumph in Nigeria and bring the continental trophy back to South Africa.

"It's very encouraging to have a South African team competing in that space that should ignite a fire in all of us as South Africans.

"If we are patriotic enough, we really have to support and show that we believe that one of ours stands a chance of conquering the continent in that space," said Mngqithi.

"One cannot even mince words and wish Orlando Pirates all the best in their run in the final and wish they can bring it home maybe that could bring a glimpse of hope for South African football and South Africa, in general, to see one of our teams lifting continental tournament like that.

"They have done well, we don't have doubt they have the capacity to win it, and the confidence I have in Mandla (Ncikazi), the confidence I have in Fadlu (Davids) and the confidence I have in the whole team suggests to me they are a team that has the capacity to win it," he added.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have welcomed back former Nigerian National Team goalkeeper, Williams Okpara in their camp ahead of the CAF Confederations Cup final against RS Berkane in Nigeria this evening.

Okpara helped Pirates win the Caf Champions League trophy in 1995.
