Chiefs and Cosmos draw

accreditation

The Cosmos goal was scored by Anthony Laffor and Shaun Bartlett was on target for Chiefs. Cosmos played much of the second half with 10-men after Laffor was red carded.

The match was fast paced with Chiefs looking the better side, more attacking and playing well. Cosmos defended well and continually tried to catch Chiefs on the break.

In the 38th minute Cosmos were awarded a penalty when the referee adjudged that Mokete Tsotetsi had fouled Davies Mwape in the area.

Anthony Laffor scored with the penalty kick to give his side the lead.

Three minutes later Chiefs were level when Shaun Bartlett scored with a close-range shot after the ball rebounded to him from keeper Avril Phali.

In the 54th minute Cosmos were down to 10-men when they had Laffor sent off for a second bookable offence.

Chiefs threw everything into attack after Laffor’s red card but could not crack the Cosmos defence.

In the 61st minute Mabhuti Khanyeza was denied by a save from Phali.

Bartlett came close to getting the winner in the 67th minute but headed a cross over the bar.

David Mathebula had a great match and tormented Cosmos the whole game and should have got the man-of–match award.
