Diego Simeone explains why he would never sign Giovanni Simeone for Ateltico Madrid

Giovanni Simeone, 23, netted on his full senior international debut in the 3-0 win over Guatemala yesterday, as he played the full 90 minutes as the central striker.

Having excelled at Argentina top-flight sides Banfield and River Plate, the robust forward quickly earned comparisons to Sergio Aguero. And since moving to Serie A, his stock has risen immeasurably.

With 29 goals and eight assists over the past two seasons for Genoa and Fiorentina respectively, Giovanni has been strongly linked with his fathers side, as a tenacious and powerful striker which fits the playing style of Los Rojiblancos.

But Diego has ended speculation over the move, claiming it may cause disharmony amongst the current squad.

"He is a boy who has everything, but, unfortunately, I will never sign him," he said, according to Marca. "I never want to say never, but it's very difficult to have your kid in the dressing room, both for him and for the relationship.

"If, in five or six years, he becomes a more important figure than he is, we'll talk about another situation. Maybe the day that I'm not at Atletico Madrid, he will be able to go."
