Evans and Carelse both suffered injuries during the Absa Premier League games on Wednesday.
Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane has confirmed that both will not be in South Africa’s line-up against the Stars and Stripes tomorrow. He added that head coach Alberto Carlos Parreira had not called for replacements for the injured pair.
“With exception of these two players, along with Siyabonga Nkosi who failed to arrive from Germany, all the selected players are in camp and no other injuries have been reported.
“We wrote a letter to Fifa yesterday on the issue of Nkosi’s failure to arrive for camp after his team in Germany refused to release him for this weekend’s game.
“We are aware that Nkosi has only just returned back to training and has still to play in a competitive game, but we had the same situation with Nasief Morris when we played against Zambia in Cape Town earlier this year.
“Morris was still undergoing rehabilitation after recovering from an injury but he came to play for Bafana Bafana and had a good game.”
Bafana are expected to parade their new kit that will be used during the Afcon tournament in Ghana next year when they go onto the pitch at Ellis Park tomorrow.
