Paulse, who has one Bafana cap to his name, has now been involved with the club for eight years, rising up through the ranks from the Under-17 team.
Not always the most prolific goal scorer, the lanky target-man seems to be revelling in the absence of the departed Terror Fanteni and is well on his way to his best season yet for the Cape side.
His red-hot form of late – six goals in four games – has boosted the Urban Warriors’ title challenge considerably, yet Paulse is quick to attribute the form to his team-mates.
“It’s been great to have been scoring, but credit must go to my team-mates who have been providing me with the chances. My main concern is that the team does well, it is not important that just one player performs well,” the 25-year old explains to Kick Off.com.
But Paulse does admit that the goal fest of late has boosted his confidence.
“Yes, I feel a lot more sure in front of goal now and am staying calm now when chances come to me in the box. It’s easier to do this when you are scoring regularly,” he says.
Ajax fans will be pleased to know that the former Avendale Athletico marksman feels he is on the way to reaching his full potential.
“I have been at Ajax for many years now and the training I have been given, together with the lessons I have learnt from the years I have been playing in the PSL are now paying off.”
Following their loss to Supersport United on Tuesday (in which Paulse scored their first goal), the Urban Warriors have the chance to redeem themselves on Friday night when they square up to Bidvest Wits.
