Hendricks and Mokone both join on two year contracts after being shown the door at Maritzburg.
Chalwe joined FC AK almost midway through last season and made a limited contribution at the club.
“We signed both Maritzburg players yesterday morning on similar two-year contracts and both are already training with us. They came to us as free agents.
“With regards to Chalwe, we couldn’t agree on terms with him and so we did not renew his contract and thus he has since left,” says FC AK CEOGene Petersen.
FC AK has also released the Ghanaian pair of Nana Ampong and Charles Duah, along with Namibian Rudi Louw and Brazilian Leandro Da Cunha.
The arrival of former Santos midfielder Hendricks could ignite the thrills at FC AK after he parted ways with United following a one-year stay with the club.
Hendricks was put on the transfer list before handed his clearance last week.
snl24.com/kickoff has gathered that the 24-year-old Capetonian’s release was not based on non-performance.
“Trouble started when the outspoken Omar told the club boss Farouk Kadodia how he felt about the club’s way of releasing almost all the players who got the team promoted,” says a source.
“That happened when he was due to exercise the option on his contract. Next was an issue related to Omar’s injury which he said he communicated to the club physiotherapist [Debra Mitchell] before the pre-season tournament that was played in Durban.
“The club then apparently alleged that Omar was faking the injury and as a result he was hauled before the disciplinary committee. But he believes that by then the decision to release him had already been made and the DC was a mere formality,” the source added.
