FC Barcelona's Jordi Alba on Spain snub amid alleged conflict claims with head coach Luis Enrique

Alba, 29, was one the more notable absentees from head coach Luis Enrique's first squad as La Roja head coach for their upcoming fixtures against England and Russia.

With Gerard Pique's retirement from international football, Alba, with 66 caps, makes him the second most experienced defender available for selection behind captain Sergio Ramos.

Reports in Spanish media have claimed the bust-up between the pair during their time at Barca was the key contributor to his omission.

"I would like to go with the national team, but it's the coach's decision and I have to respect it," he told the press after their 8-2 win over Huesca.

"I didn't expect it, but I also didn't expect to go to Euro 2012 after my work with Valencia.

"It doesn't depend on me whether or not the coach lists me. I don't really know why I'm not going."
