Pirlo is widely considered as one of the best midfielders to ever play the game as a technically gifted deep-lying playmaker.
After two decades at the highest level with AC Milan, Internazionale and Juventus, the 116-time capped Italy legend hung up his boots.
However, it was reported last week that Australian club Avondale FC were interested in tempting the veteran with a deal which would see him join in time for the FFA Cup quarterfinal against Sydney FC later this month.
The semi-professional side based in Melbourne confirmed to ESPN FC that they had contacted the player, and said they are "waiting to hear from Pirlo's management."

However, it has since been revealed that Pirlo's management team has rejected the offer for the Azzurri legend to come out of retirement.
The 2006 World Cup winner has set his sights on management, after recently completing his coaching badges since ending his professional career in the MLS with New York City FC.
