The Confederation of African Football (CAF) today said the striker is eligible to feature in the competition when Ghana plays Guinea in the opening game at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.
Gyan was shown a red card against Brazil in Dortmund in the second round of the World Cup finals 18 months ago.
And since that incident, Ghana have not played a competitive match, skipping the qualification campaign for the Nations Cup finals as the host country.
CAF says it has received no notification from world governing body Fifa over any suspension.
