The stocky winger is now training at the Stars of Africa Academy run by Farouk Khan, but which plays under the banner of Alexandra United, in the Vodacom League.
The 28-year-old joined the Roodepoort-based club last season.
Gene Petersen, FC AK CEO, confirms to KickOff.com that Hendricks has stopped training with the club though he still has a contract.
“He is still our player despite the fact that he is no longer training with the team. Although I am not in the clear about his decision to stop training with the team, I understand he was frustrated about not getting game time,” says Petersen.
“Everything will be treated as per the contractual agreement that he has with the club. He is still on our payroll,” adds Petersen.
Khan has confirmed to KickOff.com that Hendricks is training at the academy.
“Rowen is training with us, but I am not clear about what has happened with FC AK. We are merely helping him because he has come to us so that he can train hard. Players need that when they are not playing competitive football,” says Khan.
Hendricks, a School of Excellence graduate, played for Ajax Cape Town and has had two overseas stints, one in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and the other with Rostov in Russia.
