Hendricks lifts two Students' awards

accreditation

Hendricks, who has been commanding in central defence for Wits pocketed R10 000 for each of the two accolades.

The 24-year-old defender has proved a model of consistency since his arrival at the club, having also won the Players’ Player of the Year award last year.

Zambian midfielder Noah Chivuta scooped the Top Goal Scorer award with his six goals, enough to see him carry off R5 000.

The workaholic midfielder is, however, on his way to newly-crowned Premiership champions Supersport United in the new season.

Chivuta could have also bagged one of the two big awards had it not been for his decision to sign for United, which has not proved to be popular with the Wits technical team.

Enterprising right-back Wilson Shendzelani also went home with R5 000 after being named the Young Player of the Year, while midfielder Sandile Sibande got the Most Improved Player award.

Assistant kit manager Jackie Ndlovu got the Club Man of the Year award for his efforts of always being available for any task at the club.

Former CEO Derek Blanckensee, who has left the club for the 2010 LOC, was handed a signed and framed Wits jersey as a token of appreciation for the work he did for the club in the last 25 years.

John Bester, director of sports at Wits University, coach Roger de Sa and his assistant Eric Tinkler, handed the token of appreciation to Blanckensee.
