“As I’ve said for a while now my aim is to move to Europe. It isn’t true that I have signed for Pirates. My deal with Chiefs ends in June and for the next two weeks I’m focusing on playing for Uganda,” Obua tells KickOff.com.

“When I come home I’ll begin looking at my options for a move away from South Africa. I’ll be able to tell you more then.”

Obua’s business manager Ivica Stankovic knows it will be a tough task getting Obua into Europe given his lack of game time at Amakhosi this season. However, a move away from the PSL remains the player’s goal.

Obua jets out of South Africa today to join the Ugandan national team ahead of their home match against Niger on May 31. A week later, the Cranes are up against Benin away from home.

“The Ugandan team is a real unit. The bond is great and we’ve been consistent in team selection for a while now. Timothy Batabaire, Denis Onyango and Geoffrey Massa are all in the team with me,” Obua says.
