Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff from Belgium, Van Heerden expressed his disappointment with his latest setback as he had recovered earlier from the same injury which he sustained in February.
“I feel sad that I have only managed to play two games after the Afcon tournament. Ever since then I have spent more time on the sidelines due to the injury. I had already started full training when the knee injury surfaced again.
“Now that I have had the operation, doctors advise that I only return back to training in mid-July.
“I will be staying in Belgium for a while and will only return back in South Africa at the end of this month, to be with my family and friends.”
