International Friendly match report Scotland v Belgium 07 September 2018

The visitors were knocking the ball around confidently in the opening exchanges, with Eden Hazard seeing a lot of the ball already despite Scotland’s early high press.

Roberto Martinez’s charges were guilty of not increasing their intensity after 25 minutes as their possession was not transferring into chances created.

However, Romelu Lukaku broke the deadlock for the Red Devils in the 28th minute with a simple tap-in after he was setup by Thorgan Hazard.

Scotland were overpowered in midfield which made it easy for Martinez’s men to create chances upfront, although the score remained 1-0 to the visitors at the break.

Eden Hazard doubled the lead for the Red Devils immediately after the restart with an absolute cannon-shot from a tight angle inside the box.

Michy Batshuayi made it 3-0 for Belgium seven minutes into the second stanza, hitting a first-time shot from 12-yards out following a cross from Eden Hazard.

Batshuayi made it 4-0 for the Red Devils and completed his brace on the hour-mark by finding the bottom corner following a good run from just outside the box.

Scotland were creating chances of their own 20 minutes before time but their finishing was not up to standard, while Belgium were not in a hurry to go forward.

The Scottish were definitely out of the game but they tried to get on the scoresheet with some positive play but they could struggled to bypass the Belgian defnece as the clash ended 4-0.
